I am trying to install 8.04 on my laptop and I made the boot disc properly but when I boot up, get to the splash page and click install the disc spins and then stops and the installation does not start. This is the point I am at:

http://linux.dsplabs.com.au/files/p79-ubuntu/ubuntu-804-hardy-heron-beta-screenshots-boot-splash-small.png

None of the selections do anything except boot from hard disk and F1, F2 etc...

Any ideas?

Have you tried checking the disk for errors. Maybe burn a disk at a slower speed sometimes this helps.

Check the md5sum of the iso.

If they match, it might be that your system does not the support Live cd. You can try the alternate cd, which is a text-based installer. It can be downloaded from the ubuntu homepage.
