Hi all,

I recently got myself an Acer Aspire One Laptop to use on the move, but this time i left my main laptop behind in India and took my Aspire One with me, im 2 days into the trip and several issues have arrisen with this linpus linux thats installed on it.

I dont have access to a CD RW or External Optical drive of any kind. but i do have a half dozen pen drives with me so heres the question.

With just a Pen Drive can i put the Ubuntu Live CD onto a pen drive (Make the pen act as a cd) boot from the Pen into setup and install on the Aspire?

Thanks

Hi there are a lot of posts about booting/installing from a usb pen drive http://ubuntuforums.org/gsearch.php?domains=ubuntuforums.org&q=booting+ubuntu+from+a+usb+pendrive&sa=Google+Search&sitesearch=&sitesearch=ubuntuforums.org&client=pub-9806935032004241&forid=1&channel=4258035119&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&safe=active&flav=0001&sig=j8aS_BVU5nKjBk65&cof=GALT:%23008000;GL:1;DIV:%23FFFFFF;VLC:663399;A H:center;BGC:FFFFFF;LBGC:336699;ALC:0000FF;LC:0000 FF;T:000000;GFNT:0000FF;GIMP:0000FF;FORID:11&hl=en

It might be worth checking whether Ubuntu supports the Acer Aspire one out of the box (wireless, etc) I have an Asus eee which requires a bit of playing with to get working with distros other than the standard Xandros supplied with it.
