I was at 8.04 LTS and things worked flawlessly--even my wide screen SiS. Then I tried to move up to 8.10 and only about 75% of things work. Then widescreen fails; audio fails. I am missing at least four icons. If there is no fix, is there a way to downport back to 8.04??

You cannot downgrade a version to a previous one. Only a clean install will do.

Then do you have any idea how I can get my audio working under 8.10?? (Right now it shows an [X] beside the speaker icon.)

mine does this too. Only way I'm able to use sound is when the screen comes ( booting ) up where you can select the different ( versions ) for lack of a better term. I'm now well versed in ubuntu. I just kept selecting different ones until one had sound working.

If only I could get my dvd/cd writer to work.
