I was just wondering do hard disk drives work in space without gravity?

I imagine the platters are pretty tight, no reason they should react weirdly to zero gravity. I'd still go with Solid State if I was heading to space, though. :P

Solid state drives work and if NASA's technical specs are to be believed then yes traditional drives should work too.

I imagine they'll work in zero gravity. However, high acceleration of going into orbit might damage them.

Well, there must be something in those computers the "space ships" use. And not to forget the astronauts, cosmonauts, ... bring laptops that work fine.
