how to install bandwidth meter which keeps record of all internet download byte size in ubuntu linux?i want to keep track of download limit of my internet connection because i am having limit download option............

You could look at "Net Usage Item" plugin for firefox, or one of the other plugins.

That would only measure bandwidth as used by browsing though.
I have the feeling that the desired value is rather the bandwidth that the whole gnu/linux system uses.

As I found this thread searching for a bandwidth measuring tool myself I have no answer though :D

but let this post serve as a 'bump' so that mayhap someone with an answer comes about :)

I would think that most ISPs would have an account monitoring page for each user to access and check the daily,total and usage history? Secure access via browser and password site.?
Check with your ISP.

Its not just for browsing the web using firefox. I have used this plugin for awhile and it keeps track of what Internet usage I have used and the usage displayed is the same that is on my isp website for how much I have used for the month. So maybe worth having a look at it and see if it meets you needs. :) All the best!
