i wanna change buntus how do i do that?

so i installed kbuntu kde 4 a while back, but then i started liking plain ubuntu more... so... when i try to install ubuntu the only partition that comes up is the win xp one (that i split xp-kbuntu) and it asks me to split only that one, the partition that has kbuntu doesnt even apear like it didnt exist... what can i do to fix this?

If you want to install Gnome (the desktop environment that plain old Ubuntu uses), you don't have to make a new install, you just install the DE

sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
Then log out, under Sessions choose Gnome, and log back in.
