Hi All,
Thanks in advance.
I run fluxbox, so I don't get an update notification. I noticed today when I added a package that I had some upgrades, so I took them. I got some error messages relating to a kernel upgrade and dpkg failed.
I think the problem is that I keep my /boot on its own partition that is only a few Mb (an old habit from by Gentoo days). I when dpkg tried to create the new kernel image, gzip didn't have enough space. I'm including the output from synaptic at the end.
My question is: what can I do to clean things up now? Can I simply uncheck "Linux kernel image for version 2.6.24 on x86/x86_64" and the modules package from Synaptic? Can I remove one of the older kernels and reselect?
Furthermore, is there any benefit to having /boot mounted on its own ext2 partition any more? If I recall properly, that was the motivation for having /boot separate: the kernel likes living on an ext2 fs, while I use ext3 for / and /home.
I apologize if I have neglected to include any relevant info.
