Hello,

My old laptop couldn't read the cd from Ubuntu, so I tried a manual install according with the instructions in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromWindows.

I did everything as prompted, and it went smoothly in the download with the mirror and all the process. It completed the installation, but when it finished, it never logged on, just made a huge log and the last line of that logs says

*Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local) [OK]

It halts in there forever...:( when i press a key it asks me my login, i write the one i chose before, then it asks my password, but when i try to write the one i chose in the installation process, the keyboard doesn't seem to work. It doesn't write anything! Oh crap and I formatted everything...

Need a big help here....

Pls anyone who can help, would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

It's normal for your password not to show when typing it in, just go ahead and type it, and press 'Enter.'
