I know this was handled in an archive post, but there was no resolution to the issue so I will ask it again... sorry.

I am installing LiVES video editor on a testbed PC and I get this error:

checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0... Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk+-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtk+-2.0' found

gtk+-2.0 = libgtk2.0-dev.

I have seen several similar issues posted out there, but again I havent seen a resolution.

TIA

Have you installed Ubuntu-Desktop correctly reinstall it by going to Terminal then typing in "sudo gksu /usr/sbin/synaptic" without the quotes then type your password and a new window will launch. Then at the menu click "Edit" and then "Search". Type "Ubuntu-Desktop" then click on it then in the Menu bar click "Package" then "Mark for Reinstallation" then click "Edit" in the menu bar and click "Apply Marked Changes" then when finished click "close". Click "System" the the top left hand of the computer screen and click "Quit" then click "Restart".
