How am I suppose to install Ubuntu on my Compaq Presario CQ40,
Specs: AMD Athlon 2, 2 GB, 160 GB HD, ATI Graphics?
I can't activate my wifi, sounds, graphics and COMPIZ, I really want to have Desktop effects on my laptop...

I also have this problem doesn't work sound and brightness (function key with f7 and f8). so anybody know how to avoid this problem.

I can't install Hardy cause it always shows me the Busybox so I decided to install gutsy and it worked though my drivers aren't...
Your guidance is highly appreciated...

Hi, im using Compaq CQ40 also. I've installed Ubuntu 8.10 and it's working fine :)
You might need to enable sound driver youself, but it's not a very big problem. You can find the solution here
