Hi I have a Asus p5w dh motherboard and e6600 cpu and have tried various methods of installing ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 alpha without success.
I have 2gb of ram an nec ide dvd/cd rom drive and three sata drives
one with longhorn one with hackintosh (mac software) (kalway) and the last hard drive is to hold ubuntu.
note i am not running raid! i just use each drive on its own for each set of software. i am not sure what the problem is but have noted others have had difficulty running linux on jmicrom asus boards.
I have had several attempts to install the linux software but after loading i am always requested for boot able media once i reboot.
the live cd appears to work its just a full install.
