6.10 > 7.04 > 8.04

sort of new to linux..when upgrading from 6.10 to 7.04, do I lose my settings/files ( host, ltsp.conf, dhcpd.conf, etc) ? or does it wipe them clean and i have to restore those?

It should keep your settings.

Personal tip: backup your data anyway (I never had to actually use suh a backup, but I'm paranoid :) )
