I've recently come across Processing Visual Language (http://processing.org/), a java based graphics language/lib that can be placed on your website via java applets.
I really like this project, and have fooled around with a couple of processing demos. It's also easy to code.
Now, I'm very new to Java programming. In fact, I only started it for use with processing, and it's because of my lack of Java experience that I started this thread.

Considering practical application of the processing visual language, I would like to hear your opinions on the following 2 questions:

1. Is Java a valid method for using graphics ons the web? Processing is really good, and I've experimented with it on my personal sites. It woks really well.
However I read that many users disable Java in their browsers. I also read that many companies will block Java in their firewalls and therefore the applets wont load for these users.

If this is the case, what about John Resig's little project (http://ejohn.org/blog/processingjs/). Would this javascript implementation avoid the problems mentioned above?

2. In your opinions, do you think that this could become a good replacement for Flash and others (silverlight? =\ ) on the web? Please also give 1 or 2 reasons why you feel so?

I ask these questions because I am seriously thinking of using processing.js in ALL my future web projects, that require any form of fancy visuals.

Your thoughts are highly valued ^_^

Thanks

WW
