I am looking for a Logical Data Structure (LDS) modeler. Drawing an LDS in programs not designed to do it is a pain. Does anyone know of a good modeler, or any modeler, which would allow me to draw entities, relationships (not just one to one), and set things such as primary keys? It would be awesome if someone knew of some software which could read exported table information from a mysql database and automatically generate a diagram of the database as well. Anyone ever used anything like I describe?

Thanks.

There's one called dbdesigner that looks really good!

http://fabforce.net/dbdesigner4/

However, I've haven't been able to get it working on Gutsy. You might have better luck.

I like the sound of the dbdesigner link you gave in post 2, now it's just a matter of seeing if I can get it to work.

Thanks for your help.

I also found out about another one called Power Architect that I tested at work today. It seems ok for doing ER diagrams.

(Thanks to capink on this forum for that one)

How to install Power*Architect on my computer with
Ubuntu Linux Version 9.04 (jaunty)
Kernel Linux 2.6.28-15-generic
Gnome 2.26.1
I've donloaded already "Architect-generic-jdbc-0.9.13.tar.gz".

I've installed the program meanwhile.

But one question remaining:

By which command or menu can I restart the program?
