I'm trying to upgrade my Hardy kernel to 2.6.25-2 and am following an online guide on how to build it from source(since I cant find a package anywhere).

I have dependency problems when trying to install the guides required software.

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
build-essential: Depends: libc6-dev but it is not going to be installed or
libc-dev
Depends: g++ (>= 4:4.1.1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

Also the package makedumpfile doesn't seem to be in the repos.
The guide is here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kernel/Compile
