So far I've tried mplayer, audacious, vlc, streamtuner, xmms(didn't fully work),and totem.

I've been spoiled by winamp on windows and I really need a media player that has a developed media library and playlist. Are there any Gnome media players out there that fits that bill?

A lot of people are slamming xmms saying it's old, buggy, and I didn't see a media library when I tried it. VLC has a playlist, but no real media library, streamtuner, mplayer, and audacious didn't have a media library that I saw, and in totem I've only seen a playlist.

Can anyone recommend something that fits the bill?

Summary:
Media player, must have:

Media library
Playlist
Gnome-themed

Thanks,
-SS

I've tried to wine winamp and the interface comes up, but the media library doesn't populate in either pane.

Exaile and Banshee are my favourites. You can also use songbird which is similar to iTunes...
link to songbird installation: http://www.getdeb.net/app/Songbird
link to exaile installation: http://www.exaile.org/
And Banshee can be found in add/remove software...

I went through the same thing when I switched from Windows to Linux. I have Exaile, but I find that it takes forever to load in so I could just get at my library. I usually use MPD (http://ohioloco.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=320469), with Sonata (http://sonata.berlios.de/) as my front end. If I want to pull tracks from a wide variety of artists I use Amarok (http://amarok.kde.org/). It may be a KDE app rather than a GNOME app, but before I started using MPD/Sonata it was the bets media player for the way I want to manage my library.

Just downloaded and installed. I hated iTunes because is was written about as resource-friendly as vista. This one on the other hand works great! Thanks!
