I wonder what would happen if Microsoft went bankrupt?

Would Linux be in the lead? Or will it be the big o mighty Apple?

I think it would be the Apple personally since more people know about Apple than Linux (I think)

I think Gnu/Linux would for one simple reason: HARDWARE

A) Apple has what? 5% of the desktop market? could they start to manufacture enough hardware for 100% of the market from one day to the other?

B) Hardware manufacturers (Nvidia, Intel, AMD, Seagate, Samsung, creative, etc..) would never want Apple with that much power (and sales), they would start lobbying for Linux (and supporting it) faster than you can pronounce money money money, mooooonnnnneeeeeyyyyy!

the link is about b gates personal wealth, not sure what the value of microsoft the company is but it must be in the hundreds of billion $ bracket!
