Anyone know how to fix this. I would rather have the "Add and Remove" working rather then using terminal.
It searches for the missing codec that I need but won't allow me to download it.

What is the message it is giving you when you try to install it?

Hey, how do you get that penguin?
The message that comes up says " THE LIST OF APPLICATIONS IS NOT AVAILABLE"
Click on the Reload to load it. To reload the list you need a working internet connection.
THEN IT GIVE ME THE OPTION TO REFRESH OR CLOSE.
After that nothing happens. I do click on the box to select it, but it does not allow me to do anything.:lolflag:

Do you have a working internet connection?
If so, maybe go to System > Administration > Software Sources and make sure the proper repositories are ticked?

You can get tux from http://tux.crystalxp.net/
Another thing to check is that you have the ubuntu repositories enabled, you can do this by going to Software Sources (System>Admin>Software Sources) and on the first tab tick all the boxes that are above source code.
