Hi,
I am new to ubuntu and linux in general and have decided that now is the time to swap to a proper operating system after using windows for many years.
So feeling eager i download the latest version of ubuntu 64bit, burn it to disk, stick it in my drive and reboot. I am greeted with the ubuntu load screen and start the download only for it to stop with the following message:
(111.551114)8139cp0000:08:02:0: this (id10ec:8139rev10)is not an 8139+ compatible chip.
111.551161 8139cp 0000:08:02:0 try the 8139too driver instead.
The install then goes no further and i have to (Ctrl Alt Del) to restart Vista.
The spec of the laptop i am trying to install on is as follows:
Acer Aspire 5051 with AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology MK-36,
2Gb of ddr2 memory and an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 Graphics card.
I have downloaded the 32bit version and strangely get the same message.
Please help](*,)
