My Ubuntu installation (Heron) comes with Perl 5.8.8
I used perl alot. Sometimes I use synaptic to download a module (especially if it contains bindings to things like OPENGL), sometimes cpan.pm
I want to upgrade to perl 5.10. It has many cool things from perl6 and some great modules have updates that require 5.10.
When I had Ubuntu (F or G, cant remember which), I used the perl upgrade functionality, but got into a mess.
On perlmonks, I found a post that recommended upgrading perl manually and consulting the OS provider, but I cant find any links to help.
What needs to be done to upgrade Ubuntu from 5.8.8 to 5.10 without breaking anything?
