Hi all! First time poster to the forums and I usually haven't the need (you guys a very thorough) but this one stumped me.
I recently bought a HC3000 Mitsubishi HD projector and connected it to my computer. The native resolution of the projector is 1280x768.
When I connect my computer via a VGA cable to the projector I can set my resolution to 1280x768. However if I connect via DVI/HDMI it auto detects the projector of having a resolution of 1280x720 and whenever I try to explicitly change the resolution in the xorg file it gets reverted back to 1280x720
My video card is a Nvidia geforce fx 5500 (yuk) and has one VGA and DVI connection. My monitor is VGA and that leaves me stuck with DVI for the projector (I also don't have an extra VGA cable and DVI-VGA adapter)
Btw, having a HD projector connected up to ubuntu+compiz is truly amazing I just wish I could get a little bit more vertical pixels when dual screening.

What i need is a way to either ignore the auto detection altogether somehow or override it.
