I have an ASUS G2K-A1 laptop (see here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220220) for specs).
I was able to boot the ubuntu-8.04.1-desktop-i386 CD when there was no hard drive installed. I ran the CD error check, and ran the Live image. Obviously I could not install yet.
When I put in a brand new 500GB SATA drive, now it only gives me a busybox prompt. I won't even check the CD for errors anymore!
I already searched for this using Google, and I tried using all_generic_ide and the aic7xxx=no_scan things. Taking out the quiet boot option, I can see that it seems to have problems with the ATA controller.
Hopefully I just need the right boot option. Anybody know what that is?
