View Full Version : [ubuntu] After upgrade in single user mode asking for password

I ran an upgrade on my ubuntu server from 7.04 -> 7.10 -> 8.04 remotely over ssh.

7.04 -> 7.10 went fine, restarted and continued with 7.10 -> 8.04. Seemed to go fine but after reboot I was never able to ssh.

I had my hosting company do a reboot (was free) and they told me the system was in single user mode waiting for a password to to a filesystem check.

Is this normal, did something go wrong? I am afraid to restart again.
I also noticed the /boot dir is empty - that seems wrong.

Also, I log in using the root account.

Thank you
