Hello,

I've been playing with emacs a little bit, and I have specific needs for TABs for java development. (They are required for a programming course.)

I've read some docs and got them working properly in Fundamental mode, but not in Java mode. IIRC the emacs modes installed in ubuntu are from compiled lisp code. Can I customize major modes like "Java" from my .emacs, or will I have to get the sources for the Java mode and edit those?
