[SOLVED] wmii not using .xinitrc

So I've been trying to get dual monitors working with wmii by following some advice that says to modify the .xinitrc... but no matter what I put in that file, nothing changes. In fact, I deleted it, and wmii still starts up the same way. I also tried putting the stuff in .xsession, but that didn't help, either. Any advice?

It turns out it was because I was select wmii from GDM instead of the script thing.

xinitrc doesnt work for me either using openbox.

what "script thing" do you mean?
