linux is not windows. and linux already has its own executable its called a .bin file. stop trying to advertise your brainstorm here

Lol, its not mine. I just found on "recent ideas" and thought it was funny. My user there is actually Fixman (http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/contributor/Fixman) (oh, what a coincidence).

lol.
For real, Repos are THEE greatest thing going for *nix. It would be nice if they were updated more often, but its still better than downloading 100's of programs then mannually installing them, then some need to change important registry entries and Oh, one screwed up: Windows System = tanked

Haha! I about cracked up on that one!

Ubuntu is based on Linux, but it should have a way to execute .exes (and not emulating them like wine, witch by the way seriously stinks)
What a contridiction. Wine Is Not an Emulator.

Lets face it: .exe files are the most common way programmers use to create files.
Ok mister. When was the last time you actually programmed anything? I'll guarantee you didn't use an EXE to program an EXE. Good grief.

I consider myself an amateur programmer, and I tend to create files with either emacs or gedit (depending on whether I'm in text mode.) Or, the GIMP of course, if I'm creating pictures.

The last time I used an exe to create a file would probably have been editing an xml file with Notepad. (Few weeks ago, but I'm pretty confident in my memory.)
