i lost my phone and decided i liked not having one so wasn't going to replace it, but my dad is going crazy because he can't ever get hold of me now lol. he sent me an old phone he must have found in the bin because it didn't work and now he said he'd buy me a phone for my christmas present lol.

so, can anyone recommend a linux phone? i know nothing about phones and can only think of the nokia N800 (i think that's the phone i'm thinking of) i saw there's a N810, but that's too expensive, £150 is the highest i can go and even that might be too much for my dad!!! he thinks everything costs £5 lol

i would probably use Skype, yes. i'd just love a phone with a light linux desktop and bash and network card too and lots of 3rd party apps to install, does that exist?

yeap, i had a look on google too, but i'm talking to my dad tomorrow so i need to think of what i want by then. if i can't come up with a phone by then i'll just have to get the cheapest normal phone as i don't really want one. i really don't know anything about phones so i might find it difficult to pick one, i'll have a look on youtube and see if there are any reviews.

I've been looking for a good cheap phone my self and of course the first thing I looked for was a Linux based phone, you might remember this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Openmoko

EDIT: (Accidentally posted before I finished typing)
The phone price isn't all that cheap though, 399 USD!

I forgot all about that. Here: http://www.openmoko.com/

You might want to check out the freerunner.

Yeah a Neo Freerunner is the phone I would love to get one of these days:

I'm just researching this myself but you might also like taking a look at this site if you haven't already:

While were on the subject of phones does anyone know if the Google Android will have a camera?

EDIT: Couldn't see it in the specs on Wikipedia, guess there's not too much information about this phone available yet.

EDIT2: Never mind I was looking in the wrong place. :D

Camera: The G1 has 3-megapixel camera. It does not however capture video or offer zoom functionality. It does support video playback for the following formats – H.264, streaming, 3GPP, MPEG4, and Codec 3GP [4] files.

the best shot is Neo Freerunner running on Openmoko, though its not that cheap as might be looking for, but in my opinion this is worth looking at...
