I want to make a custom Live USB of ubuntu. Is it possible to copy an installation on my computer to a usb drive and take it anywhere?

All I need is for it to run MS Office 2007 and wine.

I'd recommend an 8 GB Pendrive:

awesome I do have a 8gb drive :)

Wow it looks like this should be fairly simple then. I forgot about how Linux is usually ok with switching hardware.

You have to use an Ubuntu Live CD for the installation.

I know. I'll report back later when I have it installed :D Thanks for your advice so far.

Hmm so it was working fine for the first boot, but then after I finished updating, installed wine, envy, and the nvidia driver, it's doing weird things on boot. It takes a very long time to get to the ubuntu loading thing, and then it went back to a blinking cursor...I just shut off since it was taking soooo long. I did try twice.

Not sure what happened.

Ubuntu fully installed on a flash drive may take two minutes or longer to boot, depending on the speed of the flash drive.
Once it is running you should not notice much difference from hdd.
It usually seems to take longer to boot just after installing a bunch of stuff.
