View Full Version : Denim Jackets?

Fashion advice (odd, I know, but this has been annoying me for a while now). Are denim jackets these days strictly for women and the "slightly effeminate", I was considering buying one, then I suddenly noticed, you never see them anymore (not on straight men anyway). I always wear scratty jeans, converse all stars, and either fairly plain t-shirts, or a band shirt etc, and I have long hair; typical teenager :lolflag:

So, anyone here still wear a denim jacket... anyone...

I wear denim jackets (blue jean). I have two, as a matter of fact, and have no problem wearing them. The one has "Country Boy" emblem on the back of it (it was my Dad's.) But for winter, I prefer my leather jacket for warmth.

Ain't just chicks and gay guys wearing denim jackets. I wear a Levi jacket and I'm as macho and brutal as they come. Grrr!! ;)

I don't agree.

In the case of denim jackets it doesn't matter who wears it, you look stupid.

@OP You will be looking stupid to one person in Belgium. Everyone else, will not be so opinionated about nothing.

He asked my opinion. I gave it.

If you don't like it, well, too bad.

It's a country where chips and mayonnaise are considered the norm; I don't think they can comment on taste :lolflag:

OTOH, if you want to take into account what everyone thinks about you when choosing your wardrobe, you'd have to go bare.

why do people worry about others opinion of what they wear? then again, i'm a scruff, but a happy scruff, i've probably got clothes older than some people on this forum, and one is a denim jacket. who cares? :-)

There are even people who expect you to notice and - gasp - remember what they wear. The very thing not to say in that case is

yes, I'm sure you were wearing something the other day because otherwise I'd noticed.
I am several years old and have learned not to say that to certain colleagues.

A clarification, are "chips" what the British call chips, or crisps?

(In other words are you referring to what Americans call "French Fries"/"pommes frites")

When dressing yourself, ask yourself two questions:

Do I look good in this?
Is this appropriate for the place im going to?

answer yes to both, you're set.

Typical human...

The first question is: "Is this comfortable now, and will it be in the environments I expect to be in while wearing it".

If you are asking my opinion I would say yes to your initial question, but that's just me. Style changes from place to place and person to person. I am not one to judge people by the clothes they wear(unless it is obvious they want me to), but denim is not my taste

What about the first question that should be asked, which I gave.
Oh, that one. I forgot to answer that one...

"Is this comfortable now, and will it be best in the environments I expect to be in while wearing it?"
Now that type of question, is a good one. To me, I don't care if something is out of style, or doesn't look good to others. If it is cold outside, and I'm going out for a long time, I'll wear a leather jacket, gloves and a fir cap. If it's moderately chilly, I'll throw on my denim "Country Boy" jacket.

So to answer that question is, yes. That is what we should be asking ourselves (and I do). I could care less what others think. I am not affected by peer pressure.

Typical Human?! More Borgisms! Resistance is futile.

I ask myself these questions when getting dressed:

1) Do I like how it looks on me?
2) Would I wear it in the company of my grandmother?
3) Are all the holes that are in the clothing where they SHOULD be?

If I answer "yes" to these, then I can wear it and feel good that I don't look ridiculous or like a miscreant.

I know plenty of guys who where them, so that's my answer to that question. However, I think they're ugly as sin on anyone. They look so uncomfortable. >_<
