Can't start live CD on HP pavilion dv5t2800

hello guys
i m little new to ubuntu , used to have it on my desktop and it worked fine .

now when i put the CD and start to boot i choose "start or install ubuntu"
it performs some tests and checks all gives ok ,, only one give me a fail, and dont have the time to read it coz it continue withe checks very rapidly
then it tells me that ubuntu runs on low graphics ,, i then choose that my VGA is a nividia
and suddenly all stops ..it returns to that check screen and nothing happens
i can use the keyboard and write but nothing seems to be happining


sorry if it was too long topic , but i really need help and i m not so much ubuntu expert

graphics by nividia Geforce 9200 ,256 up to 1.5
DDR2 3 GB RAM
HDD 160 GB
windos vista home premium
15.4" wide screen

Burn a new CD. This time try the Alternate CD. Do md5sum on the iso, burn at 4x or less, check CD integrity before install. Do not use CD-RW

umm so that means that the hardware is very acceptable ,, ok thnx


but i doubt that hp locked the pc to the vista as its OS or something that it wont run another OS

one of my friends tried to install XP and also failed for some reason i dont remember now

I heve exactly the same problem. I tried different distros Ubuntu 7.10, GoS and OpenGEU and got same results...
