Hi, I know windows have disk clean up and defragmenter utilities. What about in Linux? Is it necessary to do those things in Linux to speed up system performance?

While I believe some utilities for this do exist in Linux, I don't think they're necessary.

I also think you meant to say "defragmenter" not "fragmenter" ;)

I don't know about Disk Clean Up but:

jdong created a disk defragmenter:

solarwind has also created his own defragmenter loosely based (as he puts it) on jdong's script:

I don't think you really need a defragmenter but if you want to remove even the minuscle fragmentation on a Linux File System, then it would be great. :P

I find that QuickStart (http://quickstart.phpbb.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11) does a nice job of cleaning up "junk". Sometimes quite a bit of it. Great little tool.
