I am running Ubuntu server 8.04 with XFCE installed, all is working fine. But I would like to change the resolution to a 960x600 for use with 6 security cameras from Zoneminder(.org).

I have been messing around with xorg.conf and with sudo displayconfig-gtk. But I can't find a working solution, whatever I try there is no way to get XFCE and X to use 960x600.

If I make changes to xorg.conf and reboot X using ctrl-alt-bksp I seems to ignore the changes. Also, the display prefs. of XFCE list other options than xorg.conf. All very weird...

Would anyone have a clue howto do this??

Many thanks!!
