Usenet Gateway

I am looking for some recommendations / advice in setting up a Usenet gateway. Basically I would like to have Usenet monitor a folder for nbz files and automatically add them to the queue if they show up. An added perk would be a web interface for status monitoring.

I am sure this can be done with a bit of perl and a command line Usenet client, but I thought I would ask here to see if there is a more advanced setup like this already in existence.

I started using hellanzb which is available in the Universe package manager. on their site they link to several PHP interfaces. The interfaces are not secure but its easy to add that.
