Here's a reference (http://www.ss64.com/bash/) that touts itself as a 'bash command guide', but in fact many of the commands are available in other types of shells too.

I liked A Practical Guide to Linux Commands, Editors, and Shell Programming by Mark G. Sobell

http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Guide-Commands-Editors-Programming/dp/0131478230/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223269342&sr=1-1

He'll have a new one out (Jan 05, 2009) for Ubuntu that might also be good: Practical Guide to Ubuntu Linux (Versions 8.10 and 8.04)

http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Guide-Ubuntu-Linux-Versions/dp/0137003889/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223269389&sr=1-1

Well, there are many free online sources to dig in which share our community spirit...

I would suggest you to have at first a look at the Linux Documentation Project (http://tldp.org/guides.html) and in particular at the following books:

GNU/Linux Command-Line Tools Summary
Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
Bash Guide for Beginners
Advanced Bash-Scripting Guide

available online and downloadable in fully linked PDF format.
They have been just updated and - do not forget - even the other guides, faqs and howtos which are elder can be nice too: Unix has been here for a long time, and its culture has very old roots that have never been disrupted, nor abandoned...
