Sometimes when I boot into Ubuntu 8.04, the screen is offset a bit from the last boot. The screen resolution is the same, but the screen is either too large or too small in the horizontal and vertical by one or two pixels and I need to adjust my monitor settings to compensate.

Maybe it is simply a hardware problem? I have a 15" CRT Dell monitor. It is 2-3 years old.

Do you have the nvidia drivers enabled?

You'll have to have that set up, of course.

And I noticed some squirrelliness restarting between Windows and Ubuntu. I've found it's best to shut down and let the machine sit for precisely 15 seconds before I start up the other operating system. Otherwise my video card seems to carry enough juice in it to keep stuff in memory from the other operating system.
