double video at install

Hi
Running 7.10 perfectly on Gygabyte m/b, using Intel dual core 64 bit, 2.1 Ghz, with single stick 1G RAM, 160G HDD, (no Win***s).
I've tried to install 8.04LTS from ISO disk and tried a 64bit 8.04.
Both give the same problem - double vision - herring bone type image.
Can just read the 8.04 'Welcome' box, but can't go any further.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like there is a video chip support issue with Xorg. Either try the install in safe mode, or try a newer version such as the 8.10 beta.
