My current installation is 7.10.
I didn't upgrade since due to lots of work.
Now that I found some spare time I'm thinking of upgrading
to 80.4 or even 8.10.
My main question is the following, does the Long Term Support of Hardy include a long term support for updates or in order to install the newest version of Firefox or OpenOffice I would have to upgrade to 8.10, 9.04 and so on?

Due to the needs of my occupation I don't have the easiness of upgrading every 6 months to use the current releases.

Thanks in advance

yes LTS for repos as well.

when open office 3 hits final i have no doubt it will be backported to 8.04 as it has been writen by a dev at ubuntu brainstorm that it will happen

i would go for 8.04 for stability and 8.10 if you want the latest and greatest

stability is what fits to my needs.

Thanks for clarifying me the issue.

Certainly even if oo3 doesn't get backported to hardy then it can be installed - I've been using it on hardy for a long time now with no problems.
