Hey,

I have a problem. I have a bunch of .avi and .mpg/.mpeg files that I want to put on a DVD but not just ordinarily. I know how to make a data DVD and I have k3b installed that allows me to, I believe, make copies of playable DVDs I already have but I want to take these video files and put them on a DVD I can play in my DVD player. I run on Gutsy Gibbon but with all the possible updates installed minus Hardy Heron. So, I was wondering how to do this as I am feeling totally clueless. Please help!

Thanks

Avidemux is great for this. It allows you to convert a range of video formats to DVD compliant mpeg files.
You can cut, split, combine your video tracks, all sort of cool stuff. And it's in Synaptic.

Pure awesome!
