Hi ,
It's nearly 6 month stay with Hardy now Intrepid is coming So this time I plan to use 64 bit (some said is faster and better), then I go check some software that I currently used.

My laptop is T5500 core 2 duo. I never touch 64 bit before so when I look for 64 bit (Linux) I found only I386 (I686) and AMD64.

- Is AMD64 can use for T5500? Or is for AMD only?
- Another question is can I compile source 32bit by myself in 64bit? Is a same source or not ?

Thanks all guys waiting for Intrepid ...

Okay... Yes amd64 is 64bit and it will work on your computer.
You should be able to compile 32bit code on 64bit also. There may need to be some kind of command depending on what you are compiling. If you are compiling your own code, then I'm not sure. Most programs out there, when you compile them will compile for your OS (either 64 or 32).
Hope I did not confuse you :)

AMD64 is simply a naming convention, like x86.
