Well, I just tried out the mozilla Flash 10 plugin from Adobe. Works great. It's much more stable so far for me, it handles embedded flash stuff MUCH better (for example try out http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/ before and after...), and most importantly: it's fast. I can watch fullscreen and HD flash videos with high FPS. It is still a tiny bit slower than in Windows, but this is a huge improvement.
You can test it out here: http://www.adobe.com/products/hdvideo/hdgallery/?promoid=BQMSZ
How to install:
The steps here work okay: http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2008/05/16/test-drive-flash-player-10-beta-in-ubuntu/
You only have you change the download URL to: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer10_install_linux_091508.tar.gz
