Can I use gparted to expand Windows from the front of its partition?

This is mostly a theoretical question right now, because I want to ask it before finding it out the hard way: if Windows XP is in the second primary partition of a HDD, and I shrink the first primary partition at its end to give the Win XP partition room to expand at its beginning, is OK to expand the beginning of the XP partition with gparted? Will gparted be smart enough to move Win XP to the new beginning, or will gparted just put a bunch of free space at the beginning of the XP partition and mess up everything?
