AWN Dock maximize/minimize launcher

I recently installed Ubuntu and downloaded the AWN dock. It works perfectly but is it possible for a launcher to maximize/minimize the launcher instead of opening a new instance of the launcher.

For example, if I have firefox already running, I do not want the launcher to open a new firefox. I remember I did this before with the command:

firefox -new tab

or something like that but I can't remember, and that command does not seem to do anything now.
