Hi
I just installed Ubuntu on my Dell desktop. To run the liveCD, I had to add 'all_ide_generic' at the end of the kernel line. Otherwise, it was going into a strange command prompt. Anyway, I installed using the installer on the desktop screen of liveCD. Now when I boot into Ubuntu, I can only go as far as the bootup progress bar. The progress bar flashes for at least 30 to 40 seconds and the system reboots. I checked the grub kernel line and right at the end it still includes 'all_ide_generic'.
I would be grateful for any help.
