I found this on piratebay as I was about to install 8.04 for the first time. Seems legit, but I find it hard to believe anything when its makers are called Hacktolive. Here is their website:

Any thoughts?

Why not just install Ubuntu from the file distributed by Ubuntu itself? You can download directly or get a torrent.

Fundamental misunderstanding as to what a "hacker" is. This could be useful:

Still, the features mostly consist of stuff you can get from the repositories. The group is probably legit, but you'd be better off setting this stuff up manually anyway. It'll be a learning experience, and might allow you to make some tweaks specifically for your machine.

Well... I have downloaded an ISO of that Super Ubuntu thingy and tried using it (LIVE CD)... its the same Ubuntu 8.04 that's on the officially distributed but I have read has releases each month -- meaning when they release it... it's gonna have all the updates up to that month.. and it also comes with some pre-installed software.

It's good if you want to have a system that is configured by somebody else... but as MaxIBoy said... you'd be better off installing the official Ubuntu and customizing it yourself. Learning is rewarding.

I thought it was pretty cool, except when I saw MSN. But, for beginners, I think something like this is excellent. Its pretty easy to uninstall all the stuff you don't need.

I wonder, why don't people make a 'winbuntu' version for converts from windows. Basically make it look like xp (have compiz preinstalled and xp theme), have the most similar equivalents to standard xp (with office), extra codecs (as with superubuntu), and a real REAL effort to make it compatible with hardware (or at least a package which can direct you to a site for linux hardware drivers).

no thanks. it has known bugs. if you want an ubuntu install with "more things" like codecs and such, kiwi linux will fit the bill. or even mint.
