Hi, I used to see pictures in flickr and other websites. Both FF3 and Flock are become very slow and sometimes close itself when I try to open more than four or five pictures.

My system has intel dual 3ghz core processor, 1gb RAM and nvidia 8600 GC.I am using wifi connection. I am living in UK.

This slowdown is due to wifi connection?

Increasing RAM or changing to quad core processor will speed up the system performance?

Thanks in advance!

I would certainly say that seems like a WiFi problem. Your specs are very nice, especially for running Linux. For possible diagnoses, you can try a different browser, and you can try a hardwire connection.

I think a weak wifi signal will always make a system slow/slower than a good Ethernet connection like a cable modem.

I like to compile everything for my AMD Turion64x2, you might want to see what CFLAGS, CXXFLAGS, and make flags that you can use for your Intel chip:

http://gentoo-wiki.com/Safe_Cflags
http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.3.2/gcc/i386-and-x86_002d64-Options.html#i386-and-x86_002d64-Options

You can also use an "optimized" Firefox build which helps..... that's what I'm using and it feels better than Swiftweasel.

Epiphany is also really fast and can be made to be "almost" like Firefox with some of the plugins and userscripts.

And getting more ram is always a good idea.

It's most likely WiFi, or it could be the web browser. Try running a faster webbrowser (*cough* Opera *cough*). Or you can try, as crimesaucer said, try an optimized build of Firefox (Swiftweasel, Swiftfox, etc etc)

Use Opera or Kazehakase for browsing, and you might like a lighter window manager.
