Hi
I am new to Linux, and Ubuntu.
I am trying to install Ubuntu as a dual boot with XP.
I have been following the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/switching/installing-partitioning.html
However, when I get to the partitioning part of the installation, the instructions don't match the install.
I also looked at instructions for partitioning at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowtoPartition
and used the live CD to go to Gparted, resized the windows partition, and then went to add the swap partition, however, it doesn't give me the option to make the partition logical, only primary or extended.
What do I do?

Read Psychocats Ubuntu (http://psychocats.net/ubuntu).

Thanks!

I didn't realize I had to make the windows partition smaller BEFORE I run the installer. I did this using GParted. Once I did this the installer gave me more options for partitioning.
