I am trying to resize my WinXP partition on my Toshiba Tecra M2, but I keep getting the error message "Resize operation failure" when I try to resize the WinXP partition. I have tried using the live cd as well as the alternate cd for 8.04.1. I also defraged my hard drive multiple times using both the built in XP defragger and a defragger from auslogics. I really want to be completly windows-free by the end of this quarter. Any help plz? I am only currently using 15gb of my 60gb fujitsu hd

only thing i know that would do that is if your not shutting down windows properly...

have to do the whole start-shutdown, and turn it off from the tower

but you've probably thought about it already . ..

Your drive has to be unmounted. Get Gparted Live CD:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=115843&package_id=271779
Burn the iso to disk and boot from it. (it works with unmounted drives/partitions)
Backup everything before you start. It takes a while.

Right click on the XP partition. Choose 'resize' from the menu.
