I've searched this forum and found a few threads that didn't really help.
Basically, I get an error when I try and install ubuntu via CD. It boots to the CD, then I click install.. it does it's little loading thing, then I get a text interface and it displays an error a long the lines of "SRST Failed errno=-16".
Now, I googled and a thread on this forum said something about WD Hard drives and setting the jumpers to single. I have a hitachi deskstar *insert incredibly long model name here* and it's set to master. Only drive I have.
So I don't believe that could be it.
Another thread said something about the IDE cable and making sure all connections are fine and that it's a 80 wire not 40.
I'm not sure whether it's 40 or 80 wire(How do I tell?), all I noticed was it only had 2 connectors (A blue and black) instead of the normal 3, probably due to dell being cheap maybe :P
System - Proc: Intel Celeron 2.8ghz, 766mb DDR Ram, Intel 82865G Graphics Controller, 80gb ATA Hitachi Deskstar HDD and CD-Rom & DVD-RW drives.
What's wrong? IDE Cable?
