I came to Ubuntu because I was tired of the strict licensing of Windows. It's not that I don't like it; but when I shell out $250.00 for a Vista flavor, I should be able to install it on a few of my own computers.
So in a nutshell, I would say "freedom".
So what made you come to Ubuntu?

Yeah I agree with that. I couldn't believe how easy the install was.

DRM was getting on my nerves and the fact I didn't know what was going on in my OS, scared me.

Been "experimenting" with Linux builds for several years (starting with Mandrake 4 then into several iterations of Fedora). Was tired of the wasted hours maintaining Windows just to be able to use it in a home office environment. Two friends turned me on to Ubuntu a year ago. It installed out of the box with only the NVida install with Envy having to be done, and it is now PRIMARY on three machines in the network with two Windows machines on the back end of the network. One for my guests that may be terrified of anything other than MS, and the other to run a gang of media stuff and to use Adobe for my photography (CS2 just does not run right in WINE and GIMP is close, but no cigar, yet)(and my large bed Epson photo printer really likes Window better). (meaning the Windows boxes seldom go on line other than BOINC, so the maintenance has become a MONTHLY instead of a twice a week occasion!)
