Sun vs Linux

I was browsing the web yesterday and came about an interesting article in Yahoo News

I thought this might make for an interesting conversation and an opportunity to get some constructive feedback. There's no real reason for this thread other than to inform and get a forum perspective on how far Linux has come and surpass it's predecessor.

Solaris is good on Sun hardware. I like it, it just needs better hardware support for the common x86 platform as far as I'm concerned.

That's true. Hope with OpenSolaris we'll see more support coming from their community.
